The DB Baureihe 120 is a class of electric locomotives operated by DB Fernverkehr in Germany. In November 2023, the last locomotives of this series were decommissioned by Deutsche Bahn. A few were sold to private railway companies and are operational.

The DB Class 120 electric locomotive is a Deutsche Bahn electric locomotive and is the first series-produced three-phase locomotive in the high-performance range. This series is a milestone in electric locomotive development due to the use of an inverter in semiconductor technology. It also represents the latest in three-phase drive development.

Class 120 was an epoch-making locomotive. Because they had three-phase-AC-motors, DB could save much labor to the maintenance. This new technology was developed mainly by Henschek and BBC. They had adjusted this to a diesel locomotive - DE2500 - and experiments by DE2500 were very helpful to make class 120.0.

The BR120 was originally designed to replace the impressive BR103 and were one of the first electric locomotives to feature throughout modern electric locomotives. Intended to be the first truly universal locomotive with capability to haul fast passenger trains and heavy freight loads. The locomotives were widely used throughout Germany.
