2002年8月14日 · Dbx 266XL not great.... I have used the 266XL for some time & though it is fine as an 'entry level' compressor I quickly moved on to better things. It is OK on acoustic guitar & vocals but not so hot on bass guitar - lots of pops & clicks which I couldn't hear at first, but eventually became apparent over time.

2003年7月26日 · IMNSHO, it's "big brother" the 166 is OK on some things as long as you are going for a very dark and obviously-compressed sound, but the 266 is just plain unworkable. Save yourself some headaches and get an RNC. Even some of the cheap Behringer stuff sounds a lot better to my ear than the 266.

Is this a good comprssor gate to use for recording with. Drums in particular. Im on a budget and this is why I was interested...

2009年5月1日 · From the GS Board - current (I think) DBX comps, apparently in descending order of quality. I've usually seen the 166 in live rigs. I have a pair of 160xts and a 266. I wouldn't recommend the 266 for recording - it lives in my guitar rack. The 160xts are great on instruments and especially drums.

2021年4月25日 · It could be the power supply. I had a few dBx-266's that had hum problems. Both mechanical and a low but audible hum in the outputs. Opened them up to check it out and found a pretty ordinary PSU. Once I replaced the PSU with a better design then the hum and noise went away.

2004年3月6日 · I need to pick up a gate for my rack. As a relative newbie, I'm heading for the DBX xl units. But my question is 166xl or 266xl? The 266 is a bit cheaper and I'm not sure why. I run a Yamaha MG 16/6 to a Tascam DA-38 and mix down to a Tascam CDRW-700, if this has any bearing on the issue.

I have the DBX 266 Project 1. The unit works great and it was Cheap. I don't know about the Behringer Composer. I'd love to buy one, they sur are pretty, but I don't know how well they work. If I buy another compressor it would be a 266. I love the fact that it has the gates.
