2009年9月12日 · In my view, the DCT/SMG are automatic transmissions that allow for manual/push button shifting. The clutch really has no bearing as it did decades ago. I think we have to accept the fact that computers are shifting the car and the driver can choose between pushing a button or letting the car do it.

2010年2月20日 · SMG is an electrohydraulic manual transmission; so basically hydraulics actuate the single clutch. DCT is essentially two manual transmissions in one housing working in tandem (odd and even gears handled by each unit) thereby shortening the time it takes for the electrohydrualics to actuate the clutch.

2008年1月18日 · I think DCT is praised so much more than SMG because one does not need to work hard to make it shift smoothly. An SMG can deliver very smooth shifts, but one must also lift from the throttle at the appropriate time to do this, similar to in a manual transmission car.

2008年8月29日 · The DCT is a better transmission but the SMG reacted better, I liked the way it responded and felt. It was not faster but due to the lag it sure felt like it. The DCT is almost too good, you can't even feel it in auto, like a CVT.

If 8-speed AT, 7-speed DCT, and CVTs, can match the performance aspect of a manual 6 speed - while getting better fuel economy AND producing less emissions - that will be the death knell of the manual transmission.
