USS Cochrane (DDG-21) was a Charles F. Adams -class guided missile destroyer built for the United States Navy in the 1960s. The Charles F. Adams class was based on a stretched Forrest Sherman -class destroyer hull modified to accommodate smaller RIM-24 Tartar surface-to-air missiles and all their associated equipment. [1] .

This venerable old ship building company had been building ships in Seattle since 1898 (Note 1). As she took form she became a shipbuilder’s dream, with the elegant sheer of her bow and the classic lines of a Destroyer.

USS COCHRANE was the 20 th CHARLES F. ADAMS-class guided missile destroyer and was last homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. COCHRANE was stricken from the Navy list on November 20, 1992, and was subsequently berthed at Pearl Harbor, HI. The destroyer was sold to Brownsville International Shipbreaking Corp, Tx., for scrapping.
