DEQ has updated its Air Quality Index to better serve the public and put more data at users’ fingertips. The color-coded tool categorizes air quality at more than 37 stations around Oregon. To use the index, simply click on a dot on the map to see what air quality is like at a station near you.

Currently, all Oregonians live in areas that meet federal air quality standards. The Air Quality Index is a scale used to report actual levels of ozone and other common pollutants in the air. The higher the AQI, the higher the health concern. The AQI is divided into categories that correspond to different levels of health concern.

DEQ ensures that the state meets the National Ambient Air Quality Standards for criteria pollutants as required by the Federal Clean Air Act. The agency also monitors hazardous air pollutants (or air toxics) to track trends and presents near real time air quality data to inform public health decisions.

2021年9月22日 · DEQ collects hourly air quality data from over 30 monitoring stations and converts the information into a real-time Air Quality Index (AQI) known as NowCast. NowCast takes a weighted average of the hourly air quality data and provides a real-time AQI.

The AQI is an index for reporting daily air quality. It tells you how clean or polluted your air is, and what associated health effects might be a concern for you. The AQI focuses on health effects you may experience within a few hours or days after breathing polluted air.

Every day the Air Quality Index (AQI) tells you how clean or polluted your outdoor air is, along with associated health effects that may be of concern. Local air quality affects how you live and breathe. Like the weather, it can change from day to day or even hour to hour.
