DKW Motorcycles
Jorge Rasmussen founded Motorenwerke Rasmussen in Zschopau, Germany in 1906, and entered the motorcycle industry with a 30cc bicycle motor in 1921 and shortly thereafter introduced 122cc Golem and 142cc Lomos scooters. The name DKW was trademarked in 1922 and the firm went on to become one of the largest manufacturers of motorcycles in the world.

DKW was taken over by MZ after World War II, and moved production to West Germany. Came in under Fichtel & Sachs in 1966.

It is the most powerful model in the four-capacity SB series introduced in 1934, which ended with the SB 500. There are two versions; around 6,300 of the first with a short frame and around 13,300 of the second with a long frame were built.
