DLm8700 provides massive scalability and 32Gb FICON connectivity using one to eight Virtual tape Engines to support up to 32 FICON channels. The DLm8700 can be configured with up to four PowerProtect DD models and up to two PowerMax 2500 or 8500 as well as existing PowerMax 8000.

DLm release 5.3 introduced the model DLm2500, a 2U-size standalone or rack-mountable virtual tape system with two 16Gb FICON channels and four 10 Gb Ethernet ports providing an NFS connection to a wide variety of the Dell EMC storage. Internally, the DLm2500 provides up to 256 virtual tape drives.
