2005年6月18日 · DOHC Hemi i think this is about the 2nd or 3rd time this topic has been discussed. It was quite a unique idea, twin cams, 32 valves, 16-branch intake manifold. Theoretical ouput i believe was around 950 horsepower with a single 4 bbl and the theoretical maximum RPM was in the 8000-9000 rpm band.

2019年9月23日 · Based on on a '53 hemi, '55 heads - modified for 2 cams each. 7k rpm. Gear drive to the intake cams, exh cams run w/chain from int cams. Was going to all gear drive.

Sadly, thanks to Bill France, none of this ever happened....but just think 'what could have been and what we could have and probably would have been driving by the late 1960's!

2004年4月19日 · It is very possible for this motor to use a "hemispherical" combustion chamber, for two reasons, one no Hemi truly has a hemispherical chamber (a COMPLETE half of a sphere) they have more like 25% of a sphere or so and the 426 had less than the older motors, two, I had a Jeep J-200 (1964) with the "tornado" inline 230 c.i. six cylinder motor, this motor also is a "hemi" and has an overhead cam ...

2010年3月11日 · Ford came out with their 427 SOHC for NASCAR. Chrysler did not want to be in the shadow, so they developed a 1964 426 race Hemi prototype with 4 valves per cylinder and DOHC. But the OHC design was regulated out of NASCAR before they were able to release the design, so the 426 DOHC Hemi never became production.

2020年9月22日 · The Daimler V8 'hemi' was designed by Edward Turner, and the hemi layout was chosen because he had designed most of the Triumph twin motorcycle engines, which used hemi combustion chambers, and by chance the Daimler engineer that did most of the Daimler prototype engine development had worked before WW2 for Riley on the Riley 2.5L Big Four which was a 4 cyl DOHC hemi engine.
