The Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) in Salem is dedicated to pursuing excellence in training and accountability for public safety professionals. They offer certification and training programs for a range of fields including criminal justice, private security, fire programs, and polygraph examination.

This is a hybrid Fire Instructor 1 course presented by DPSST in alignment with the 2019 Edition of NFPA 1041 Standard for Fire Instructor Professional Qualifications. DPSST’s overall mission is guided by this board and five discipline-specific public safety policy committees. Membership of the board is outlined in statute and provides a comprehensive representation of the constituent base.

The DPSST works with public and private safety agencies around the state to provide basic, leadership and specialized training at the 237-acre Oregon Public Safety Academy in Salem and regionally throughout the state.
