2021年5月8日 · I successfully upgraded my DS1621+ today with no notification in DSM using 2 X 16GB modules. Rebooted one additional time after the initial startup after upgrading and still no notifications. The modules I use are from PHS Electronics and I bought them via Amazon (EU):

DS1621+ will run Dockers fine and the CPU is very powerful. The + and XS+ have close Passmark performance and very close GeekBench performance. The regular plus model supports ECC RAM and you get SHR too. For 10gbe, you can add a the Synology 10Gbe PCIe adapter when you do upgrade. You save a $800 too?

2022年8月16日 · If the DS1621+ is a bad option, perhaps there's advice as to better? Needs to be between 4-6 drive bays, not afraid to pay a little extra premium for something that just plain works and has plenty of room for future expansion. Thanks for any advice!

Ultimately, I chose the DS1621+ for future proofing, build quality (metal case), more powerful CPU, and official support for additional ram (32gb vs 8gb); also ECC support. I’m running an Ubuntu vm for WireGuard VPN server, and a handful of docker images.

2022年7月13日 · I am looking at either the ds1621+ or the ds1522+. I must have shr and I have a separate server for plex and blue iris (I hated that surveillance station charged you per camera) so the Synology is just my file server.

2020年11月26日 · So, I decided to get the newly released Ds1621+ in pre-order. It has a fast Ryzen processor, so cannot do hardware transcoding. It was OK with me because I’ve been using an i7 laptop as my Plex server. To be honest, I’ve been just fine with 1080p and 720p. I’ll do 4K occasionally, but that was before my Synology with a 12 year old Drobo NAS.
