Deep Space Habitat - Wikipedia
The Deep Space Habitat (DSH) is a series of concepts explored between 2012 and 2018 by NASA for methods to support crewed exploration missions to the Moon, asteroids, and eventually Mars. [1] Some of these concepts were eventually used in the Lunar Gateway program.
NASA is now testing its second habitat architecture concept – the Habitat Demonstration Unit–Deep Space Habitat, or HDU-DSH. The module will be placed in space-like locations and situations, called analog environments, so that engineers and scientists can test multiple concepts for operations and technologies simultaneously.
This paper gives an overview of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) led multi-center Habitat Demonstration Unit (HDU) project development of a Deep Space Habitat (DSH) configuration that will be analog field-tested during the 2011 Desert Research and Technologies Studies (D-RATS) field tests.

The DSH Testbed serves as the proof of concept and early integration platform for Deep Space Habitation subsystems and technologies in a vehicle like context. Its purpose is to perform early integration and risk reduction of habitation systems while developing the capabilities needed for human exploration missions.
