The Dauer 962 Le Mans is a sports car based on the Porsche 962 Group C racing car. Built by German Jochen Dauer's Dauer Racing, a racing version of this car went on to win the 1994 24 Hours of Le Mans with the support of Porsche in LMGT1 group. The first road car debuted at the 1993 Frankfurt Auto Show. In total 13 cars were made. [2]

Austrian entrepreneur and racer Jochen Dauer had acquired five Porsche 962C race cars in 1991 with the ambitious goal of converting them into road legal supercars. At the time, it seemed far fetched. But a few years later, Porsche saw an opportunity and stepped in to assist, modifying the car’s suspension to meet strict German road regulations.

Powering the 962 is the same 2994cc water-cooled Porsche flat-six found in the race car. A pair of intercooled KKK turbochargers are employed and the engine has ‘softer’ cams for more tractable driving. Thanks to racing catalytic convertors and Bosch Motronic 1.7 engine management, the 962 meets European emissions regulations.
