My work has evolved through the years from fantasy art, surrealism, conceptual and narrative painting all blended together with a style reminiscent of the Old Masters, especially the Dutch painters. I often describe my work as “Realism with an Edge.”

His realistic paintings have been described as a blend of Renaissance master and figural surrealist, with a touch of fantasy art mixed in. Upon first glance Bowers' work seems to take you back to periods of painting long gone. However, Bowers' paintings incorporate modern themes and ideas. There is always a message in his work.

Since then, Bowers has had exhibitions across America and Europe and has won many awards for his fine art paintings. David currently lives in the Pittsburgh, PA area with his wife Kimberlie and their cat Rembrandt where he paints slowly and methodically day in and day out.

The technique might be old, but his paintings incorporate modern themes and symbolism, which he describes as "realism with an edge." Bowers' paintings are in many private collections throughout the United States and Europe as well as The Museum of American Illustration in New York and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC.
