2007年2月27日 · See the THAT corp design note #127 "Upgrading Modular VCAs" for some excellent reading. The 160VU is a great sounding compressor! Would make a nice clone project, but I suspect the 202 is a significant part of it's sound. Another challenge would be the RMS detector potted modules!

2025年3月8日 · So today my buddy Terry Jackson from SixStringStudio and I did a little 160 shootout. I'm not in the best listening environment but it sounds to me that the CLX and DBX are most similar to each other and the 260 sounds slightly looser and less controlled. The 260 looks the best though, but the DBX has the best looking VU meter.

2016年2月27日 · I use the UAD DBX 160 sometimes, and it's close, but I typically prefer the Stillwell Major Tom or DDMF New York Compressor. While the NY Compressor isn't exactly like a 160, it's a nice sounding plug.

2013年2月20日 · It's not a clone, but it's been described as a dbx 160vu with a tighter low end by quite a few people. It's a great tracking comp, it sounds like a much more expensive comp IMHO.

2008年10月22日 · Whatever solution is used for the 200/208, you'll want to be very careful to stay as close as possible to the original operating parameters. One compromise with this solution is that the 200/208 were discreet and the 303's use opamps (though better ones could be subbed). Thank you for offering your expertise.

2008年8月13日 · the originals are so cheap, it´s not even worth the effort to clone them. Go and buy one if you think you need it and use your time to DIY some better comps
