My dad will be 77 this month. His stand is a fort/deer stand that we made from scraps. And I mean scraps. But he loves it. The ladder going up is rough on him. Knee replacement and another knee that needs replaced. So I want to build stairs going up. Its roughly 8ft off the ground. I need ideas on how to start the process.

Hello. One of the wooden rungs on our deer blind ladder busted of course while toting a loaded gun. Planning on upgrading to some kind of metal stairs. Any ideas on basic plans on welding some stairs or maybe even a more economical solution? It's 97" from the ground to the bottom of the doorway which is 21" wide. Thanks.

Built a 4'x'6 from a drawing I found online last year. I modified the plans to make it taller, from 6-ft to 7-ft. I'm 6'6" and I didn't like the idea of crouching any time I needed to stand up. I redid the drawing and instructions for my brother-in-law to build this year. He's about 6'4".

What is everyone's opinions on deer stand shelves/shooting rails? I've got a 4x6 that will be getting upgraded soon to something a little bigger. But until then I'm wanting to build some shelves inside so I've got room to set stuff. What's everyone's thoughts in different ways of doing these? Corner shelves, flush with the windows, etc.

Re: Stairs for existing deer stand - 02/01/18 08:24 PM I've built a lot of stairs and could do yours a few ways, but building stairs requires post holes, concrete and time. And lots of expensive treated lumber, plus you really can't take it with you when you leave.
