2024年10月7日 · The Deodar Cedar relies on wind for pollination. The large quantities of pollen produced by male cones ensure that at least some will reach the female cones. On younger Deodar Cedars, the bark is relatively smooth and grayish in color. It has a somewhat shiny or silvery appearance when the tree is young.

There are no serious diseases or pests that affect the long-term health of the deodar cedar: it is resistant to verticillium, but can be sensitive to beetle borers, deodar weevils, phytophthora, root rot, and sooty mold (1,3,11,16).

Unlike many trees, the Deodar Cedar does not produce traditional flowers. Instead, it has separate male and female cones. The male cones, typically 3-4 inches long, are found on lower branches and are solitary, releasing yellow clouds of pollen in the fall.
