The Schempp-Hirth Discus-2 is a Standard Class sailplane produced by Schempp-Hirth since 1998. It replaced the highly successful Schempp-Hirth Discus. In plan view the almost crescent shape of the leading edge is similar to the Discus but is tapered in three stages. An entirely new wing section is used.

The Schempp-Hirth Discus is a Standard Class glider designed by Schempp-Hirth. It was produced in Germany between 1984 and 1995 but has continued in production in the Czech Republic. It replaced the Standard Cirrus. It was designed by Klaus Holighaus. The Discus was the first production sailplane to have a distinctive swept-back leading edge.

The Discus-2c's modern wing concept combines latest scientific insight with year of experience in the development of 18 m gliders. The result is a glider that combines agile and harmless flight characteristics with gliding performance reserved to open class gliders a few years ago .

With 18 meters wing span and more than one additional meter of wing area compared to the Standard Class version, the Discus-2c can be flown at very low wing loads and above-average climbing performance, despite the slightly higher empty weight due to the FES system. Simple and easy - and thus safe.

Completely refinished Oct. 2017 in gelcoat to like new race ready condition by World Class competitor Heinz Weissenbuehler at M&H Soaring located in Elmira, NY. Maughmer winglets were also fitted to bring this sailplane up to the most current performance standard. The interior was also refurbished to like new condition.
