Equipped with the popular Schempp-Hirth Turbo system sustainer engine, more than 150 Discus bT have been built. The self-launching variant Discus bM was only built in very small numbers, but turned out to be an important proof of concept for later engine concepts that also kept the engine remaining in the fuselage.

Discus b HP is a very easy to fly glider with very good performance return. Most pilots feel very much at ease in this glider knowing there is ample performance to assist all skill level pilots with their flying.

For every 28 litres of water in the wings put 1 litre in the fin tank. Each nose weights weighs 2.2 kg and reduces min pilot weight by 5 kg. Max winch weak link: 600 Kg (Blue) Tyre pressure: Up to 360 Kg (794 lb) AUW 50 psi, 3,5 bar. Higher weights, 64 psi, 4,5 bar, tail wheel 2 Bar.
