Dishwasher liquid, pods, or something else? : r/Frugal - Reddit
Cascade liquid would probably be the sweet spot for quality and value. Personally I use the pods because convenience factor, but that's all it is. The odd occasion I tried cheaper detergents - things just didn't come out very clean, so can't recommend. Definitely don't recommend using hand washing dish soap (Dawn, etc) in the machine - bubble city!
Dishwasher Detergent: Budget-Friendly vs. Pods vs. Liquid - Reddit

It worked well. And saw some cleaning hack videos on pouring dish soap liquid into the water tank so that this would keep your toilet cleaner each time you flushed.
