The Dodecanese (UK: / ˌdoʊdɪkəˈniːz /, US: / doʊˌdɛkəˈniːz /; Greek: Δωδεκάνησα, Dodekánisa [ðoðeˈkanisa], lit. 'twelve islands'; Turkish: On İki Ada) are a group of 15 larger and 150 smaller Greek islands in the southeastern Aegean Sea and Eastern Mediterranean, off the coast of Turkey's Anatolia, of which 26 are inhabited.

Δωδεκάνησα (πληθυντικός) ή Δωδεκάνησος (ενικός) ονομάζεται το σύνολο των νησιών και νησίδων που βρίσκονται στον θαλάσσιο χώρο ανάμεσα στη Σάμο, στην Κρήτη, στις Κυκλάδες και τα μικρασιατικά παράλια. Τα Δωδεκάνησα ανήκουν στην Περιφέρεια Νοτίου Αιγαίου, στο γεωγραφικό διαμέρισμα του Αιγαίου. Το 1912 ο πληθυσμός τους ήταν 143.482.

Some Dodecanese islands are extremely popular, like Rhodes and Kos, and others have a virgin charm, like Kalymnos, Symi, Kastelorizo, Kasos, Karpathos, Astypalea, Halki, Lipsi and volcanic Nisyros. And then there’s Patmos, the Jerusalem of the Aegean, famous as the place where St John wrote the Bible’s Book of Revelation.

The Dodecanese is a group of islands in southeastern Greece in the Aegean Sea, It is located between the southwest coast of Asia Minor and the island of Crete, south of Samos, and Fourni, and east of the Cyclades. Although its name means ”12 (dodeca) islands”, the group consists of about 50 islands and islets.
