2008年4月22日 · Richard Petty had been doing some drag racing as early as 1959 from what I've heard and have seen photos of a 1962 Plymouth S/S car that he ran back then. Billy West (Little Pilgrim S/S Plymouths) worked for the Pettys and on occassion Richard Petty drove the Little Pilgrim in special match races ... even so far north as Islip Speedway in 1964.

2013年1月29日 · "47 Model here. Went to first drag race in '61. I'll take a shot at getting this started. First, In the glory days, drag racing was heads-up. (Flag or light started both lanes at the same time. First one to finish line won.) Winners came back to race other winners til no other competitors, in that class, were left.
