The DAF YP-408 is a Dutch 8×6 armoured personnel carrier, with three out of four axles driven by the typical DAF H-drive. It has a 6-litre, 6-cylinder diesel engine with a 5-speed gearbox and a 2-speed transfer case. Prototypes were developed in the late 1950s, with the production of 750 vehicles taking place in the 1960s.

Dutch YPR-765s have been extensively used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the Russo-Ukrainian War. According to the Oryx blog, as of 7 October 2024, 72 YPR-765s have been destroyed, 8 damaged, 15 abandoned and 8 captured by Russian forces. [25]

After a series of demonstrations and the delivery of four evaluation vehicles in 1974, the Netherlands government placed an order for 880 of the vehicles in 1975, which were designated YPR-765 when they entered service.

The YPR-765, main Dutch APC/IFV until recently is the result of a long development, started in 1967, when FMC (Food and Machinery Corp) just started to improve the M113. Two prototypes designated XM765 were being tested, derived from the XM701 (MICV-65 program).
