The Dyson V7 battery last longer than the V6 and the V7 is considerably cheaper than the V8 (in terms of battery life) so i felt the V7 was the best option. On standard vacuum mode I'd rate a 3. The suction isn't great and it seems to leave behind debris which you have to make multiple passes on a battery that last 30 minutes MAX.

The battery is rechargeable, and with proper use and maintenance, should not ever need to be changed out.
