The BMW M10 is a SOHC inline-4 petrol engine which was produced by BMW from 1962-1988. It was the company's first four-cylinder engine since the BMW 309 ended production in 1936 and was introduced in the New Class sedans. The M10 was used in many BMW models, with over 3.5 million being produced during its 26 year production run. [1]

The ignition in most E30 engines (M10, M20 and M40) is a standard coil-based system whereby a large electric voltage is generated and sent to each cylinder in turn by a mechanical distributor. In the more modern M42 engine, this system is replaced by coil packs.

Following on from the E21, at the launch of the E30 range in 1982 it was fitted with the M10 straight-four and the M20 straight-six engines. Over the production run, the M10 was replaced with the M40 and M42, the M20 received various upgrades and the BMW S14 engine was introduced in the M3.

2015年7月23日 · Honestly, you can get the EFI mess off an E30, bolt it on, add a fuel pump and go. It is not big bucks at all. You may have to repair/replace some E30 parts- at least, get the injectors cleaned.
