2024年3月29日 · Great idea. I remembered doing that on my Grand Cherokee when I had to drop the tank to replace the fuel pump. In fact, I ran the hose from the Jeep's FI directly to my E39. This time I'll reverse it. I was going to ask about that, but got sidetracked. Thanks, JimLev. I've been searching for an epoxy for mending the crack in the fuel pump housing.

2012年6月3日 · I love my 540i/6, but oh what I'd give to have the rack and pinion steering on the 530i. The 540i runs 0-60 anywhere from 5.4 to 5.7 seconds (according to magazine tests), and I believe I read that the 530i gets the 0-60 dash in just over 6 seconds.

2025年1月7日 · The E39 540 continues to be my daily driver and I put about 14k miles each year on it. (372,000 miles currently). The G30 feels much wider than the E39 and makes me a bit paranoid about door dings when parking.

2018年1月15日 · Hoonigan/race cars are whole different animals. Only raced out e39 540 I've seen is a russian one that does autocross and timed shootouts. Afaik he's just done the usual intake, header, cams and exhaust on the engine. The real prize is with the mostly custom suspension where it has alot of work done.

2007年8月23日 · I wondered the same thing a while ago. The answer is yes. Although there are no turbo "kits" for the 540i, I found a custom shop that would do the turbo for me, but because of the complex plans and massive amounts of pipe work, it was going to cost well over $13,000.

2008年2月14日 · all 2003 540i with Sport Package (autos and 6-speeds) came equipped with 'M Sports Suspension II' = 15mm diameter rear bar. But pre-2003 E39 540 Sports came equipped with a 14mm diameter rear bar. Only M5 cars were equipped with a 16.5 diameter rear bar. That's what i've come up with anyway: 540i M Sports Suspension is 14mm
