2022年7月28日 · I’m “newer” to VW/Audi and I just assumed the EA888 engines were kind of like the Honda K series engines, basically the same engine just tuned a little different other than the Si and K turbo (I owned an 08 FA5 and 09 RDX) that had the aluminum intake manifold. I also need to replace the upper TC cover as oil kind of seeps out.

2022年5月11日 · Gen 3 EA888 1.8Ts are load more reliable than previous Gens. Gen 1 and 2 have issues with timing chain tensioners and other issues, so far Gen 3s seem to be pretty stout. My mechanic doesn't even recommend the chain being done at 100k. He has Passats/other VW models with the Gen 3 1.8T with well over 150K miles no issues.

2022年2月15日 · It's my understanding that the MQB Tiguan engines are EA888 Gen3.B. They run a Budack cycle rather than the Miller cycle used in the GTI's EA888 Gen3. I think that's partly why the Tiguan's make 184hp/221lb-ft and GTI's make 220hp/258lb-ft. I am not sure about hardware differences though.

2017年9月4日 · The Gen2 EA888 TSI engine was used in B8 platform Audis as well as some TTs. The Gen 2 TSI features a variable lift camshaft system, and the later units also featured E85 support. However, the Gen 2 TSI tends to be more problematic than the Gen 1 TSI engine. Just look up oil consumption issues on the pre-2012 models.
