#17 had a headling unique among the mikes. When converted to and electric headlamp she received angled number markers. Sometime between August 1941 (AEBT 214) and 1950 (AEBT 60) the numberboards were removed completely leaving a smooth cylindrical headlight, unlike the others that still have their flat number boards.

East Broad Top Railroad No. 17, delivered in 1918, was a near duplicate of 2-8-2 Mikado #16 Nick. Its distinguishing mark from its siblings was it had angled number boards, then later a lack of numberboards. As with its siblings it was a primary locomotive during the last years of operation.

Numbers 12, 14, 15, and 17 all have three versions available. One is made after what they looked like in service, while the other two show it in tourist operation.

2025年3月19日 · No. 15 was carrying the whistle of No. 17, one of the railroad's three big superheated workhorses. The 17's whistle is a favorite of the EBT's train crew. As I understand it, the plan is to keep it on the 15 at least through Saturday. Meanwhile, No. 17 will also come out of the roundhouse sometime this week.

Operating from 1871 to 1956, it is one of the United States' oldest and best-preserved narrow-gauge railroads, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964. The railroad is now preserved for use as a tourist attraction until operations ceased in 2011.
