The Electoral Commission is one of the governance institutions provided under the 1992 constitution. The Commission was established by the Electoral Commission Act (Act 451) of 1993. It was set up purposely to manage the conduct of all public elections and Referenda, to handle all matters directly related to the conduct of elections in the country.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) is the official body in Ghana responsible for all public elections. Made up of seven members and there are seven (7) functional departments at the Head Office. Each department is headed by a Director who is assisted by Unit Heads.

Before someone can vote you must be a registered voter. It only takes 4 steps to register as a voter. For you to register as a voter, you must present a valid National ID Card to the registration center in your electoral area. Submit the completed registration form to the Data Entry Clerk to have your biometrics and photographs captured.
