2006年2月21日 · The diode appears to be there to keep the PCM POWER relay coil from experiencing back EMF from the ignition coil which might cause it to chatter. It will also keep the PCM from receiving power in the event that battery power is reversed.

It's important to use the correct relay as there are often circuit protection diodes inside them to keep back EMF from damaging the ECM. The EEC power relay is turned on by ignition switch power in run/start.

I have a 1994 Ford fullsize van that is blowing a fuse in the power dist. box. It's a 30 amp that the owners manual says it goes for the TFI relay, EEC relay coil, EEC diode diesel, glow plug signal. this van has a 5.0 liter engine. I have pulled the ABS relay and the EEC relay.
