This is, among other reasons, to keep someone from returning the product and getting a full-price refund and just keeping the gift card.

2023年10月1日 · I have contacted Apple and they explained that as I had bought an iPad for £789, and on my invoice it shows a deduction of £100 (student discount), I paid £689 which is correct. They then charge £100 and send you a £100 gift card as part of the student discount promotion rather than deducting it from your invoice.
