Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP)
ELI-NP Research Departments. Strong local teams are developing state-of-the-art instrumentation for experiments in the emerging field of laser-driven nuclear physics. The two major systems are the Lasers System Department (LSD) and Gamma System Department (GSD), both with specifications well beyond existing facilities.
Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP)
Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics facility (ELI-NP) will operate two unique beam-producing machines: A very high intensity, ultra-short pulse laser system, with two 10 PW laser arms, able to reach, focused, intensities of 10 23 W/cm 2 and electrical fields up to 10 15 V/m.
Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP)
ELI-NP's High Power Laser System reached the planned 10 PW (ten millions of billions of Watts) performance and a demonstrative test was successfully conducted. Reaching 10 PW at ELI-NP is a reference point for scientific research worldwide and a landmark in the history of science.
Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP)
The High Power Laser System (HPLS) and the Laser Beam Transport System LBTS are key components of the ELI-NP facility. These systems together allow creation and delivery of the required laser pulses to the experimental areas where the experiments take place.
Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP)
The Nuclear Physics pillar, ELI-NP is located in the Magurele Physics Research Campus, near Bucharest, Romania. Valued at more than 300M Euro, the project is cofinanced by the European Commission and the Romanian Government from Structural Funds, via the European Regional Development Fund.
Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP)
Welcome to the ELI-NP User Office. The ELI-NP User Office is a gateway for external Users to access beamtime at our facility and join the community of worldwide researchers that rely on the equipment provided by ELI-NP to further their scientific goals.

Nine o`Clock ELI-NP project: International nuclear physics research centre with ultrahigh intensity lasers. Interview with Prof. Dr. Nicolae-Victor Zamfir - Project Manager (I) (09/2015)
Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP)
ELI-NP's Experimental Areas were designed with particular experiments in mind, for which the beam path, arrangement of the vacuum chambers, and radioprotection measures were individually optimized.
