The GE U50 was an eight-axle, 5,000 hp (3,700 kW) diesel-electric locomotive built by GE Rail. They were twin-engined locomotives, combining two 2,500 hp (1,900 kW) diesel engines. The U50 rode on four two-axle trucks, grouped in pairs linked by span bolsters, giving a wheel arrangement of B+B-B+B.

2023年8月1日 · GE built 40 U50C locomotives for UP between September 1969 and January 1971. (Their production dates largely mirrored those of the more successful EMD DDA40X.) They carried Nos. 5000-5039. They were 79 feet long, powered by two 12-cylinder FDL prime movers, and rode on two six-wheel trucks reused from UP’s gas-turbine locomotives.

2025年3月21日 · The GE motor requires about 2" greater distance from the axle to the nose support than the EMD motor, which would have required substantial casting changes and probably a stretched wheelbase. There is only one truck frame assembly drawing for the DD35's in the EMD Parts Catalog so I am quite sure it was not done by EMD.
