ER70S-2 vs. ER70S-6 TIG rod - Miller Welding Discussion Forums
2007年8月9日 · The "-2" and "-6" refer to the amount of deoxidizers that are in the filler rod. The higher the number, the higher the amount of deoxidizers. The higher content of deoxidizers helps to neutralize contaminents that can be in or on the parent metal. For MIG, I use "-6". For TIG, I use "-2". I hope that helps. - Paul

I cant believe they didnt have ER70s-2 or -6 in stock. Yes you can use the -6 from a mig spool, just get the heaviest you can to avoid "tiny weld" syndrome. Note that there is one individual in this country pushing 4130 filler and TIG, cant believe everything you read in …
MIG wire question - Miller Welding Discussion Forums
ER-80S-D2 filler material is capable of producing welds that approximate the strength of 4130. ER-70S-2 is an acceptable alternative to ER80S-D2, as is ER70S-6, although the weld strength will be slightly lower. You also can weld 4130 with 310 or 312 stainless steel fillers. Other stainless steel fillers can cause cracking.
