2019年9月25日 · Government of India (GoI) initiated the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), through a Pan-India single emergency number system 112, to handle emergency requests. The emergency system was introduced to receive and provide support at the earliest to reduce the impact of the unpredicted emergency.

ERSS seeks to enable a pan-India, single, internationally recognized number i.e. 112 based emergency response mechanism for various emergencies, including police, medical and fire, with computer-aided dispatch of field resources.

Various States and Union Territories (UTs) have developed and launched initiatives for providing citizen centric services to facilitate proactive community policing.
