How do I read the ESM levels? :: Cold Waters General Discussions
2017年6月13日 · While it's true that the ESM mast is used to get bearings and IDs on radiating enemy vessels, other of the main uses of the ESM mast is actually to measure the risk of using the periscope in an area where enemy radar emissions are present. OP is right in complaining about having little feedback on how close to detection his mast is as a result.
Whats the point of ESM, Radar, Periscope or Active Sonar?
2017年7月6日 · ESM masts are useful for checking for nearby aircraft (strong radar returns but ships are far away/all sunk) and they give a small boost to solution calculation on emitting ships. Periscopes allow visual ID of surface vessels (you might be able to see surfaced subs, some of them do run at the surface) and you have a laser rangefinder that will ...
Radar mast, ESM mast performances :: Cold Waters General …
2017年11月13日 · Radar mast, ESM mast performances using the masts can be a paying tactic although generally dangerous to use because of easy detection of your sub. But when chasing some escaping tenders after battling with escorts and you don't want to make a long catch-up for 30 miles or so, or if you lack torpedos but you have Harpoons, this is a good ...
Detection advice for a Newb? :: Cold Waters General Discussions
2018年3月1日 · The periscope has an ESM-detector which can tell you whenever a surface-search radar is illuminating your periscope. When further away, risk of counterdetection is smaller. I often use the periscope to get an accurate picture of what an enemy ship or fleet is doing at ranges at which my passive sonar cannot give me an accurate picture.
Radar not working... Any clues? :: Cold Waters General Discussions
2019年10月15日 · (Actually similar to visual observation range.) So a sub mast will have lousy radar range compared to a large - high - surface vessel. I'm pretty sure the game engine does model that. From what I remember there are separate control keys for: periscope, ESM mast, radar mast, laser rangefinder.

Request ESM, IRCM and Radar :: VTOL VR Feature Suggestions
2017年9月23日 · Hi I was wondering if it would possible to add the above systems. I noticed part of the radar work is currently being done on the NAV page but i think that could be part of a different screen. I would like that rather then displaying objectives on a third screen. ESM and IRCM if you decide to program then should have a failure detection to not make things to easy and maybe down the road add ...
So subs won’t feature a periscope view?
2024年9月24日 · The game already allows you to use periscope, esm, radar and snorkel masts. There is no 'periscope view' but the visual sensors work like in reality. I hope they will implement at least a Periscope view later on.. The focus isn't on individually controlling vessels. It's an RTS more along the lines of Harpoon or Jane's Fleet Command, or CMO god ...
Whats the point of ESM, Radar, Periscope or Active Sonar
The masts are (obviously) useless against enemy subs, and that leaves surface vessels. Well you definitely dont want to go to periscope depth against any ASW ship, so that leaves just merchant vessels. But that would mean you have already sunk all the enemy ships capable of dealing harm to you and the merchant ships dont have active sonar so ESM is useless. So why not just take it …

2017年6月26日 · Still, at this range the passive sonar and your skill is able to identify ships on the signature panel. So it turns out debates on whether to use or ESM/Radar for targeting was a moot point. In a test battle the closest escort was identified at 29,000 yds and amphibious ships out farther than that. That range though. Yeah. You'll want it.
