2024年10月11日 · The East Asia Summit comprises eighteen participating countries, including ten ASEAN Member States, namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Viet Nam, and Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, and the United States of America.

The East Asia Summit (EAS) is a regional forum held annually by leaders of, initially, 16 countries in the East Asian, Southeast Asian, South Asian and Oceanian regions, based on the ASEAN Plus Six mechanism. Membership expanded to 18 countries including Russia and the United States at the Sixth EAS in 2011.

We reaffirmed the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific as well as ASEAN’s central role in the EAS and underscored ASEAN’s commitment to work in close partnership with all non-ASEAN EAS participating countries. 2024年10月11日 · Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today participated in the 19 th East Asia Summit (EAS), held in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The 19 th EAS was attended by Heads of State/Government and High Representatives of the EAS participating countries, the Secretary-General of ASEAN and Timor-Leste as Observer.

The EAS reaffirms ASEAN as the driving force within the evolving ASEAN-centred regional architecture, consistent with the purposes and principles reflected in the ASEAN Charter, the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), and the Charter of the United Nations.

2011年の第6回easにおける「asean連結性に関するeas首脳宣言」の採択を機に連結性が優先分野に加わった。 2011年からは米露が正式参加し、政治・安全保障分野の取組強化を確認している。
