On February 3, 2024, the board of directors for Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry, Inc. (ECCCM) voted unanimously to change the name of ECCCM to Ashure Ministry. In August of 2023, the board shared the results of their strategic planning process.

The Center advocates on state and federal policy issues that affect all or most 501 (c) (3) nonprofits operating in North Carolina. We provide crisis assistance to people in Catawba County.

ECCCM serves all of eastern Catawba County (ECCCM service area), providing emergency financial assistance for mortgage and rent payments, assistance with utility bills, fuel oil and kerosene purchases, and life-necessary pharmaceuticals. In addition, ECCCM provides emergency food and clothing to those in need.

The food ministry in Newton, previously known as Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry, is changing its name. The organization will now be known as Ashure Ministry.

Our Drive-Thru Food Pantry is open Monday-Friday from 10am-1pm. We are also open on Thursday afternoons from 3:30-6pm for our working clients. > View Here. ASHURE (Former ECCCM) Ministry is located in Newton, NC about five miles from Bethany UCC. Years ago one of the ministers from Bethany, Rev. Banks Shepherd, was instrumental in beginning this vital Catawba County ministry. The congregation continues to volunteer monthly, and to provide monetary and non-perishable items on a regular basis.
