Feb 9, 2024 · The insight doesn’t use a CVT, it uses an eCVT. Technically it has one gear (1st, for startup) and then it switches over to the electric motor (the e in eCVT). As such Honda doesn’t give a specific “mileage” for when to change the atf fluid. It uses about 2 quarts where the CVT (non eCVT) in the Civic uses about 3.9 quarts.
100k miles, what scheduled service is recommended? Price?
Nov 7, 2021 · That said, the eCVT is a newer technology, so I'm not sure I'd want to gamble on that by not having the service done. Consider me "on the fence." I have never changed brake fluid (as a regular service item) in any car I've ever owned and have never had issues.

The Insight doesn't have a 'traditional' mechanical transmission that varies the ratio between the engine and tire rotation, BUT it still has rotating parts geared to the generator, crankshaft, differential, and clutch which all need lubrication/cooling.
