Eide serves as the pseudo main antagonist for Night in the Woods and is a member of The Cult. Little is known of Eide's personality or motives, but it can be derived from Mae's final encounter with him that his main goal is to sacrifice Mae to the Black Goat.

Eide is the only member of the cult distinguishable from the others, as he wears a mining helmet. He can apparently travel through walls as a reward for his services, hence how he got through the fence at Harfest. 2017年3月31日 · I think Eide is Mae's granddad. He seems shocked to see her specifically at the mine entrance, he follows her specifically after Mae sees him kidnap the kid at Harfest, and he seems REALLLY intent on getting her into the cult or sacrificing her.

2017年7月17日 · Some people argue it is impossible that Mae's aunt is Eide, seeing how Eide is referenced as a male by his fellow cultists. She also does not have any damaged ear. Mae's grandfather also had notches in his ear, similar to Mae's.

According to a dictionary, eide is the plural form of eidos which means: The formal content of a culture, encompassing its system of ideas, criteria for interpreting experience, etc. Signs of the cult first appeared directly within the Harfest, but Mae's dreams started before already after the time she got drunk bad.

The only one of the cult members to object to this is Eide, who just wants compensation for getting shot in the shoulder by Gregg. Eide's refusal to stick to this trope and listen to the rest of the cult is what ends up dooming all of them.

2020年7月29日 · Eide is possibly the current chosen of the Goat, inherting those same abilities, though the other cult members don't seem to give him much respect if that is the case, so it's all unknown. Also, Eide could be a variation of the word eidolon, which means a shade or a phantom, which suits him well.
