
Pomp and Circumstance Marches - Wikipedia
The Pomp and Circumstance Marches are a series of five marches for orchestra composed by Edward Elgar, together with a sixth march created from sketches. The marches were dedicated to his friends including composer Granville Bantock and organists George Robertson Sinclair, Ivor Atkins and Percy Hull.

In the Military Band, it would be customary for the the tenor (E) and baritone (B) parts to be played by alto and tenor saxophones. The text "Land of Hope and Glory" by Arthur C. Benson added to the music by Edward Elgar. The choir part does not belong to the composition originally.

Elgar himself conducted four recorded performances of Pomp and Circumstance March No.1. The first was during his second acoustic recording session, on 26 June 1914, just weeks before the start of the Great War. The march was severely cut to a timing of just over four minutes and began with the trio tune so that none of its passages were cut.
