Entlebuch is a municipality in the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland. It is the seat of the district of Entlebuch. The area has been designated a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 2001.

The Entlebuch Biosphere is a natural reserve at the foot of the Alps, and includes the 395 km 2 valley of the Little Emme River between Bern and Lucerne in the Swiss Canton of Lucerne.

You would be hard pressed to name any other region in Switzerland with as many natural treasures as the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch. Here you will find Switzerland’s largest and most numerous moor landscapes and striking karst terrain as well as flora and fauna of national and international importance.

The village of Entlebuch is located in the southwestern part of the canton of Lucerne, in the heart of the UNESCO Biosphere reserve. Entlebuch is embedded between the two rivers „Kleine Emme” and „Grosse Entlen“ at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level.

On leaving Wolhusen, you start by following the Kleine Emme upstream to Entlebuch, gateway to the eponymous UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ascent of the Glaubenberg pass (alt. 1540m) is on a minor road.
