But unfortunately it is mostly a bunch of people who think they know what they're talking about because they read it on Reddit. If you want reliable specific information, do a Google search, follow the first few forum links, then do a search on those forums.

The first guy I watched was Eric the car guy and his early videos were helpful and realistic for people working in DIY with jacks in a garage or driveway. I also learned there are lots of videos that show inefficient or just plain wrong ways to do stuff.

Kilmer is an all around mechanic, but considers Toyota, and Lexus to be the top brands in reliability. Car Care Nut is a Toyota Master Tech at a dealership.

Depending on which cars tickle your fancy, I know there are bazillions of forums out there for individual makes and models. For learning about modifications, Mighty Car Mods, Roadkill, Eric the Car Guy are great.
