The directive sets a collection target of 90% recycling for SUP plastic bottles by 2029 (with an interim target of 77% by 2025). These bottles should contain at least 25% recycled plastic in their manufacture by 2025 (for PET bottles), and 30% by 2030 (for all bottles).

2024年2月13日 · Initially greeted with dismay by the world’s major beverage companies, the tethered cap legislation proposed in 2018 and adopted in 2019 by the EU as part of the Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD) will come into force this year, making attached caps of one kind or another a fact of life for consumers throughout the EU from July 2024.

In June 2019, the EU formally adopted a pioneering legislation to curb single-use plastics (SUP) -Directive (EU) 2019/904 on the reduction of the impact of certain plastic products on the environment (hereinafter “the Directive”, “the EU text” or “the SUPD) which inspired legislation in other parts of the world.

2024年11月5日 · The EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD) aims to address the environmental burden of plastic waste by prohibiting single-use plastic cutlery, plates, and cups, among other items. Under this directive, companies must assume Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) by covering waste disposal costs and labeling products to inform consumers.

From 3 July 2021, according to Directive (EU) 2019/904, EU Member States shall, through their national legislation, ensure that certain single-use plastic products which are placed on their market bear a marking on the packaging or product itself.

2021年7月21日 · Article 9: Each member state will be required to collect 77% of single-use plastic bottles with caps and lids by 2025, and 90% by 2029. Article 8: Producers of certain SUPs will need to cover costs of waste management for these products. This includes: awareness-raising measures, litter clean-up, transport and treatment.

2024年4月15日 · Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/1752 of 1 October 2021 lays down rules for the application of Directive (EU) 2019/904 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the calculation, verification and reporting of data on the separate collection of waste single-use plastic beverage bottles.

As of July 1, 2024, caps must be attached to plastic bottles and beverage containers. From 2025, PET bottles must consist of at least 25% recycled plastic. By 2030, this must be at least 30%. Why the SUP directive? As much as 40% of global plastic production involves SUPs, which requires a lot of valuable raw materials.
