The EUVP provides tailor-made study visits to meet Members of the European Parliament, officials from the EU Institutions, and other EU stakeholders. The visits comprise both individual and joint meetings and activities with fellow EUVP participants.

The European Union Visitors Programme (EUVP) welcomes participants preferably within an age range of 25-35 years old, who have at least a basic knowledge about the functioning of the EU Institutions and are fluent in at least one EU working language: English, French or German.

The EUVP did not only provide me with a deeper understanding of how the main EU bodies work - which is quite complex and can be hard to gauge sometimes - but also of influential EU policies that have a worldwide impact on people, the environment, and trade with developing countries such as the EU Deforestation Regulation, EU Critical Raw ...

The EUVP peaked at 210 participants between 1999 and 2001, with a particular emphasis on visitors coming from the candidate countries waiting to gain entry into the European Union in May 2004. The number of participants was reduced as a result of budgetary cuts and staff reductions to 165 paid visitors in 2004.
