Also, be sure to look at the tofu in sunlight or a true, bright light indoors and look for any yellowing. If you see any yellow patches, definitely don't eat it. Last year I opened up some tofu that was still a few days before its expiration date, but I noticed some yellow patches on it. That led me down a rabbit hole about expired tofu lol.

Mmmmmmm that's when I knew that my tofu was perfectly fine 😊 If it doesn't smell like fresh soy milk then probably won't be that good. (For the record, I bought it yesterday from the store. They freakin sold me 15 day expired tofu lol. My fault for not checking!

2023年4月24日 · I had tofu that went bad once, as soon as I opened it I could tell something smelled weird. Within 3 seconds it smelled like death. I washed the cutting board 5 times and it still smelled weird. The expiration date is often arbitrary, the tofu doesn't go bad because it's 5 hours past the date, tofu can't tell time.

2023年10月31日 · I have also eaten the slime-y texture of it in the past, the tofu was clearly actually expired, and I was fine. Take this with a grain of salt, but as long as tofu isn't molding it won't hurt you much. (Unless it's marinated/pre prepared).

2021年4月21日 · And if so, what would happen if I were to eat bad tofu (after cooking it of course). The expriation date on my extra firm blocks of tofu are listed as slightly over a month ago, but these blocks are the normal white color and have no smell. I opened both to check them out then promptly put them in the freezer to save for tomorrow.
