Caltrain has 3 Boise built F40PH-2C's (921,921,922) that have desktop controls. 900-919 are EMD built F40PH-2's that have standard control stands.

The PSRM is acquiring two F40PH-2C locomotives from the NCTD. They will be stored at an undisclosed location in the San Diego area until it is posssible to move them by rail to the Museum in Campo. A handful are slightly newer, with 1987 purchase dates. All 20 locomotives from these tranches are slated to be retired, while just 3 F40PH-2C diesel-electric locomotives from 1998 and 6 MP36PH-3C diesel-electric locomotives from 2003 will remain on the active/backup roster after the service cutover.

Boston's MBTA F40PH-2C #1054 and others in its class have been out to MPI for a rebuilding. It appears that #1054 was returned to Framingham this morning via CSX. These units are getting a new paint scheme which resembles that on the HSP46s. These engines were built by EMD in 1987 and were last rebuilt by MPI in 2001-2003.
