These rules for contests with electric powered aerobatic model aircraft will use the advantages and peculiarities of the electric powered propulsion. The contests could take place on sport fields and recreation areas.

In the F5J competition class, the aim is to fly a remote-controlled glider with an electric motor for 10 minutes (or 15 minutes in the final rounds) from as low a take-off altitude as possible and then aim for a spot landing. Using the Local Rules paragraph in the described manner we can accomplish appropriate F5D competitions in the meantime. So anyone might use this preliminary document in this special way as Local Rule until the revision of the FAI Sporting Code is published on the FAI website.

Just before Plenary Meeting there had been some discussions about F3D rules and safety and due to this also about F5D. But in the end there was no decision made about changes in F5D.
