Full flight simulator (FFS) is a term used by national (civil) aviation authorities (NAA) for a high technical level of flight simulator. Such authorities include the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the United States and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

FFS: We’ll start first with the heavy hitters: flight simulators — or more accurately — full flight simulator (FFS). These more capable (and more expensive) training devices are required to have motion and visual capabilities.

A FFS is a high fidelity full size replica of a specific type or make, model and series aeroplane flight deck which can represent the aeroplane in ground and flight operations. A FFS has a visual system providing an out of the flight deck view, and a force cueing motion system (at least 3 axis).

However, despite their historical significance, the continued advancement of FFS technology has slowed in recent years.

The ASE 2000 FFS motion system supports a fully electric 6 degrees of freedom, designed for use in FAA, EASA Level B and D and ICAO 9625 type VII flight simulation systems for both rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft.
