You mention glue; after I make the half hitches and give the knot a good tug with line pullers to set the FG knot I run a bunch of half hitches down the braid main line, then run Pliobond down the string of half hitches.

2022年6月7日 · I use an FG on 15 lb braid and 7 lb leader, so I don't think it's diameter that's causing your failure. I will say that I learned the hard way not to use too many loops. 16-18 is plenty. The strength and holding power of the FG is at the very beginning of the knot. So, pay extra attention to keeping the tension uniform as you build the knot.

2016年7月14日 · Tried the FG knot a few times and I also struggled with it. Having to keep tension on the line while trying to tie it in a small moving boat just doesn't seem practical for me. However (after much practice) I feel confident in the Alberto knot and have yet to break it.

2019年5月13日 · The common failure I’ve seen with both the fg and RP/John Colins is not the knot itself, but length of topshot. If the topshot is the wrong length, the knot winds up near the rod tip during the final endgame. This is the one place that the line has the most angle and creates uneven stretch in the mono or flouro that creates a failure.
