Many know us as a top-tier FIRST Robotics team, 1540 the Flaming Chickens, but we are also deeply involved with community engineering projects. In fact we’ve Catlin Gabel’s Engineering program is among the largest extracurricular activities on campus with around 20% of the student body taking part.

Team 1540 was 30-20-0 in official play in 2025. As a member of the Pacific Northwest district, Team 1540 ranked #8 having earned 243 points. Team 1540 was Rank 6 with a record of 8-8-0. They competed in the playoffs as the 1st Pick of Alliance 3 and were eliminated in the Double Elimination Bracket (Round 5).

Each year, Team 1540’s mentors and alumni design the rules and provide the primary volunteer force to run the event. BunnyBots provides a way for new FRC teams and new members to gain vital skills before the build season. For many students, this is their first experience making an FRC-quality robot.

2020年5月2日 · For almost the past week, Team 1540 has been participating in the FRC Pacific Northwest District Championships in Cheney, Washington. Our robot, Hen Solo, along with our drive team competed valiantly and placed 16th at the end of qualification matches.

Recognizing the need for learning and practice opportunities for our new members, we started two regional events, and currently run one of them. The first event we created was BunnyBots which is an easy, small scale, off-season competition to get new members the expertise they need before the main season.
